KAYAKING

With the collaboration of the Centre Excursionista de Catalunya (a center with experience in disability sports-especially in alpine and cross-country ski), Kayaking Costa Brava has developed a disability kayaking program in 1999. The purpose of this program is to allow individuals with mental, physical or sensorial handicaps to discover and practice sea kayaking.

Because Kayaking Costa Brava was a pioneer in this field in Spain, we had to develop our own disability kayaking equipment adapted to compensate every handicap on a case-by-case basis.
Today, many disabled individuals who started sea kayaking through our program have successfully incorporated themselves in a standard group; those whose handicaps didn’t allow this possibility have at least discovered sea kayaking, a sport that had been impossible for them until now.
